Data deletion instructions
How to have your data deleted, what happens when you ask, how long it takes, and the narrow set of records we are legally required to keep.
1. How to request deletion
Email privacy@mediapoint.ai with the subject line “Data deletion request”.
Please send it from the email address on your account, and tell us:
- the business or account name;
- the email address the account is registered under; and
- whether you want everything deleted, or only specific items (for example a single campaign, or uploaded creative).
If you cannot email from the registered address, say so and we will verify your identity another way. We will not act on a deletion request we cannot attribute to the account holder — that protection cuts both ways.
You do not need an account to make a request. If you have only contacted us — for example by email — and want that correspondence deleted, ask at the same address.
2. What happens, and when
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Within 2 business days | We acknowledge your request and confirm your identity, asking for anything further we need. |
| Immediately on confirmation | Any running campaigns are paused and stopped on every advertising network, so nothing continues to spend or deliver while the request is processed. |
| Within 30 days | Your account and associated data are deleted from our production systems, as described in section 3. Unspent advertising balance is returned to you. |
| Within 90 days | Deleted data ages out of our encrypted backups, which are retained on a rolling schedule and cannot be selectively edited. |
We will confirm in writing when the deletion is complete. If we need longer than 30 days for a legitimate reason, we will tell you before the deadline and explain why.
3. What gets deleted
On completion, the following are removed from our systems:
- your account, contact details and business profile;
- campaign definitions, targeting, budgets, keywords and drafts;
- uploaded and generated creative — headlines, descriptions, images and video;
- performance metrics, forecasts, health scores and recommendations;
- documents you uploaded, and support correspondence;
- stored payment tokens, and any advertising platform credentials or access tokens associated with your account, which are also revoked.
Deletion means the records are removed, not merely hidden from your view. Where a record must survive for the reasons in section 4, we retain the minimum necessary and remove the personal identifiers from everything else.
4. What we have to keep, and why
We cannot delete everything, and it would be dishonest to promise otherwise. The exceptions are narrow:
| What | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Financial and transaction records | Typically 7 years | Tax and accounting law requires it |
| Records needed for a live legal claim or dispute | Until it is resolved | We are obliged to preserve them |
| A minimal record that a deletion request was made and honoured | Indefinitely | So we can prove we complied, and so the same address is not re-added later |
Retained financial records are access-restricted and are not used for any purpose beyond the obligation that requires them.
5. Data held by advertising platforms
When you advertise through us, campaign data also exists inside Google, Meta and TikTok. We stop your campaigns and delete or archive them on those platforms, and we revoke the associated credentials.
However, each of those platforms is an independent controller of the records it holds, and each keeps its own historical advertising and billing records under its own retention policy. We cannot delete those on your behalf. To pursue them, use the platform’s own privacy controls:
- Google — Data & privacy
- Meta — Accounts Centre, information and permissions
- TikTok — Privacy Policy and in-app privacy settings
If you tell us which platform you need help with, we will provide whatever information about our own integration you need to make that request effectively.
6. Deleting some things but keeping the account
You do not have to close your account to remove data. You can ask us to delete individual campaigns, uploaded creative, documents, or a stored payment method while keeping everything else — and you can delete drafts and stored payment methods yourself from the dashboard.
Bear in mind that deleting historical performance data removes the basis for forecasts and recommendations on that campaign. We will point this out before acting, so the trade-off is yours to make knowingly.
7. Other rights, and complaints
Deletion is one of several rights you have. You can also request access to your data, a portable export of it, correction of anything inaccurate, or object to particular processing. These are set out in the Privacy Policy and are exercised at the same address: privacy@mediapoint.ai.
We do not charge for any of this, and asking will never affect the service you receive.
If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, tell us first — then, if it is still unresolved, you may complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
